Join an audience of puppets and people for our screening of Dario Argento’s cult slasher Deep Red, at the Puppet Theatre Barge in Maida Vale.
Argento’s stylish, bloodthirsty thriller defined the horror genre known as giallo, and influenced generations of filmmakers from John Carpenter to Quentin Tarantino. Now’s your chance to experience this film in the creepiest surroundings possible…
We’re hosting on the iconic Puppet Theatre Barge, which usually presents marionette shows for children. But when YOU step aboard to watch this cinematic gem on the water, something quite different awaits you.
This SECRET CEREMONY screening is the penultimate in our Tarot season, and we’ve paired Deep Red to The Tower card, representing disaster, destruction, and sudden upheaval; the ideal counterpoint to this tale of terror.
One of Deep Red’s most iconic scenes features a murderous mechanical doll. But when you join us at the Puppet Theatre Barge, we urge you to watch the film and ignore the dolls lining the walls…
SYNOPSIS: Deep Red/Profondo Rosso (1975)
‘I can feel death in this room!’ a psychic exclaims. ‘I feel a presence, a twisted mind sending me thoughts! Perverted, murderous thoughts!’
That same night, a figure wearing black leather gloves enters her apartment and brutally kills her. The only witness is a musician who takes it upon himself to investigate this murder, and the horrifying string of killings that follow.
Dario Argento’s vision comes to life with a stunningly saturated colour palette and music by prog-rock band Goblin. Exploring themes of trauma, madness, and the horrifying actions that humans are capable of, Deep Red is a delightfully disturbing thrill ride.
